When it comes to Ford trucks, none are as renowned as the F-150. The brand’s flagship pickup, it’s been hauling supplies and heavy machinery since 1975.

While all versions of the F-150 are worth taking a look at, at the present time, none beats the 2020 Ford F-150. Want to learn a little more about it? Then you’re reading the right article.

Without further ado, here is a complete overview of the 2020 Ford F-150.

The Exterior

The F-150’s exterior has always had a great look to it, and that’s no different in the 2020 model. Strong and sleek, it’s equal parts traditional and modern. It certainly carries an intimidation factor but is, by no means, over the top.

It comes with a choice of bed length. Its shortest bed length is six and a half feet. Its longest bed length is eight feet flat. Regardless, it’s capable of hauling a substantial amount of cargo.

It’s available in a number of colors, from red to black to gray to blue and everything in between. So, regardless of your preferences, there should be one that suits you.

The Interior

Regardless of the type of cab that you choose (there are three types), you’re going to have plenty of room to move. The F-150 is designed for optimal leg space and headroom. Note, though, that the bigger cabs allow for more passengers.

Whereas the Regular Cab sits just three, the SuperCab and SuperCrew Cab sit up to six—three in the front and three in the back. Note, however, that the SuperCrew provides more space for rear-seat passengers, making it a better option for long drives.

Depending on the trim you choose, the interior can be anything from basic to luxurious. The lower-end trims possess some plastic components on their interiors. The higher-end models are almost entirely adorned with a cloth.

Most models come with cloth upholstery on their seating. The Lariat, however, comes with leather seating.

There’s a decent amount of storage space in each F-150 trim. Not only are there storage compartments in which to place many items but open space on the ground as well. Of course, the vast majority of storage occurs in the truck’s bed.

Overall, the F-150 has a solid interior. It’s not a Lamborghini or anything, but as far as a work truck goes, it’s got everything you need.

Performance

Now that we’ve discussed the look of the F-150 let’s get into the performance of the F-150. Simply put, this pickup excels in just about every area of operation.

Its base trim is stocked with a 290-horsepower V6 engine that can tow up to 8,000 pounds. There are also 325-horsepower options, 375-horsepower options, 395-horsepower options, and 450-horsepower options. At its peak, the 2020 F-150 can tow up to 13,200 pounds at once.

Your fuel efficiency will depend on the trim you choose. The basic trim gets 19 miles to the gallon in the city and 25 miles to the gallon on the highway. However, if you select the EcoBoost engine, you can get 20 miles to the gallon in the city and 26 miles to the gallon on the highway.

These are solid fuel efficiency numbers overall.

The F-150 rides as smoothly as any pickup you’re ever going to find. It handles corner turns seamlessly and scarcely presents problems when presented with external bumps. Its suspension system is top-notch.

In fact, it’s even a decent off-roading vehicle. Equipped with 4-wheel drive, it thrives in conditions of all kinds.

The Trims

The 2020 Ford F-150 comes in a variety of different trims, each of which has something different to offer in terms of functionality and aesthetics. We’ll discuss those trims in detail below.

XL

The base trim is the XL, the cheapest trim available. This trim is available with your choice of three cab types and three-bed lengths. Sporting a 3.3-liter, V6, 290-horsepower engine, as well as a 10-speed automatic transmission, it offers plenty of power and can tow up to 8,000 pounds at once.

In terms of entertainment options, it’s fairly straightforward. It has a basic speaker system and a basic radio dial—just enough to get the job done. It won’t leave you wanting for entertainment but doesn’t offer all of the special features of the enhanced trims either.

As far as safety features go, the XL offers a rearview camera, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, curve control, and pedestrian detection.

XLT

A step up from the XL is the XLT. This trim offers the same engine and transmission that the XL does. As such, it performs more or less the same. Its differences appear in the safety and entertainment department.

It’s stocked with the SYNC3 infotainment system. This provides an 8-inch touchscreen, a WiFi hotspot, a USB port, Bluetooth capabilities, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, to name just a few features.

In addition, it provides power locks, power seat adjustments, and Ford MyKey, a safety feature that prevents new drivers from making costly mistakes.

There are a variety of add-ons available as well, from satellite radio to rear parking sensors and more. Call us today for more information on what’s available.

Lariat

The Lariat is one of the more luxurious F-150 trims. It comes with heated leather seating, power-adjustable seats, dual-zone climate options, satellite radio, and push-button start capabilities.

As far as performance goes, it’s a monster. Stocked with a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 engine, it produces up to 325 horsepower. Note, if you wish, you can also get it with a 250-horsepower turbodiesel engine or a 375-horsepower EcoBoost engine.

This is a better option for those who want to use a truck as a family vehicle. For instance, if you plan on going on vacations in your truck, the Lariat would help you to do so in comfort and relaxation.

King Ranch

The King Ranch excels on all fronts. Not only does it sport a luxurious leather interior, but it also provides a variety of functional and safety features. Its MSRP price is $52,740.

The King Ranch comes stocked with a 395-horsepower V8 engine. However, you also have the option to get it with a 375-horsepower EcoBoost V6.

Other features include a heated steering wheel, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and a Bang & Olufsen speaker system. If you wish, you can also opt for parking assist and massaging front seas.

Platinum

The Platinum is similar to the King Ranch trim, as it contains the same powertrain. Where it differs is in its rain-sensing windshield wipers and power-adjustable running boards. It also has the option to add a 360-degree parking camera, a park assist feature, and a variety of other capabilities.

The MSRP of the Platinum is $55,270, though add-ons can knock its price up to around $60,000.

Limited

The best of the best is the Limited trim. This trim offers a 450-horsepower engine and one of the most luxurious interiors amongst trucks on the market today. It’s equal parts class and power.

Other features you can find on the Limited include a moon roof, a 360-degree parking camera, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. The MSRP of the Limited is $67,485.

Raptor

There’s one more F-150 trim, and it’s ideal for those who like to go offroading. This trim is the Raptor, and its MSRP price is $53,205.

The Raptor comes with four-wheel drive and is equipped with a special suspension that’s ideally suited to handle bumps and rough terrain. It also has skid plates.

You can add a number of features to the Raptor for an additional price. These include a heated steering wheel, a Bang & Olufsen speaker system, and adaptive cruise control, to name just a few.

The Price

As was noted, there are three different options for the 2020 F-150, each of which comes at a different price. The Regular Cab has an MSRP price of $28,745; the Super Cab has an MSRP price of $32,830; the SuperCrew Cab has an MSRP price of $35,285.

These are actually very reasonable costs for pickups of this size and power. The Dodge Ram 1500 is more expensive, for example, as is the GMC Sierra 1500.

So, if you’re looking for a decent deal, the Ford F-150 is definitely a pickup worth checking out. It offers tons of bang for its proverbial buck.
